24 Hour Holter Monitor is a small, wearable device that records your heart’s electrical rhythm for a continuous 24 hour period.

This test can assess the cause of symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness or loss of consciousness by identifying the presence of abnormally fast or slow heart rhythms (arrhythmias).

To apply the device, our Cardiac Technologist attaches several electrodes (sticky dots) to your chest which are then connected to a recording device via several leads.  The recording device can be worn on your belt or placed in your pocket.

Once the device is fitted, you can undertake your usual daily activities, however please do not shower, bathe or undertake water sports while wearing the monitor.

If you experience any symptoms, please press the “event” button (the top button on the device) – this will place a timestamp on your recording so we can precisely determine what your heart rhythm was doing at the time of your symptoms.  Please ensure that you know where the event button is located.

You can remove the sticky dots after wearing the device for 24 hours.

Please return the monitor to Victoria Heart reception by 10:00 am on the following morning (weekdays) for analysis.
