During an Exercise Stress Echocardiogram you will exercise for several minutes on a treadmill under the supervision of both a Cardiologist and Cardiac Technician. An Echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) will be performed immediately before and after your exercise.

Your heart rate, blood pressure and heart’s electrical activity (by an electrocardiogram) will be monitored continuously.

The speed and incline of the treadmill will gradually increase during the test.

An Exercise Stress Echocardiogram generally takes 45 minutes to perform.

For this test, please

  • Continue to take your regular medications, unless otherwise advised.
  • Avoid eating for 1 hour prior.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and light clothing.

As of 14th August 2017, Victoria Heart no longer performs dobutamine stress echocardiograms.
